The Association of Fundraising Professionals, California Capital Chapter and The Sacramento Region Community Foundation have joined teams to create a powerful day of philanthropy recognition, awareness and connection on September 15th. Kelly Siefkin, Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation joins me to explain what the day will look like and why it's so important for our community to participate. She'll share the fusion of three significant events: National Philanthropy Day, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation's Philanthropy Summit and the Celebration of Generosity. Discover how these gatherings honor exceptional individuals and organizations, such as Outstanding Changemakers Karen and Colin Grahl , and the Outstanding Corporation, Raley's Family of Fine Stores.
Kelly also uncovers the exciting opportunities the Philanthropy Summit offers, with engaging education sessions and thought-provoking keynote speeches. Katie McCleary, keynote speaker, will present "Because If Dinosaurs can Fly, So Can We" promising to leave attendees with fresh perspectives and inspiration. Hear firsthand accounts of the previous year's summit and the value it brought to attendees through engaging conversations and invaluable networking opportunities. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow with fellow philanthropists, non profit leaders and community businesses—early bird tickets for the summit's educational sessions are still available thru July 31st.

Jeff Holden: [00:00:00] This nonprofit News Pod is being brought to you by both the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Sacramento Region Community Foundation's Philanthropy Summit. Sharing the excitement with me is Kelly Siefkin, chief Philanthropy Officer of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Kelly.
We have two wonderful events taking place under the same roof as a collaboration between two great organizations. The Association of Fundraising Professionals celebrating National Philanthropy Day and honoring a variety of individuals in various categories that we'll address in a minute, and the return of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation's Wildly Successful Philanthropy Summit.
Let's start with National Philanthropy Day and the luncheon with a FP, if you would.
Kelly Siefkin: National Philanthropy Day is an incredible celebration that takes place across the United States, and it really honors. Put philanthropy first and [00:01:00] individuals who make it happen Here in Sacramento. On September 15th, we have folded in National Philanthropy Day.
This philanthropy, we're honoring some incredible folks. We have our outstanding can, which is Karen and our outstanding corporation, Raley's Family Fine Stores, outstanding use of philanthropy. Isabel Church Warrant. Three Strands, global Foundation and our outstanding fundraising professional. Paula Allison, who's the Chief Advancement Officer and president of the Los Rios College Foundation.
Jeff Holden: What a wonderful lineup of people, and I'm thrilled to say that the three organizations have all been past podcasts on the nonprofit podcast network, and they just did a fabulous job in explaining what it is they do and how they serve our community. So the good news is, depending on your perspective, the actual luncheon, again, successful [00:02:00] limited.
It's sold out. The A FP luncheon and recognition for National Philanthropy Day is sold out, and the event to follow the philanthropy summit is also seeing incredible interest as well. It's a larger audience. So if you weren't one of the fortunate parties to have attended last year's Sold Out event, share with us what can be expected this year.
Kelly Siefkin: The reason that the Philanthropy Summit exists is we wanna provide an education and opportunity to celebrate with everyone who believes in philanthropy. Sacramento Regional Community Foundation believes that everybody can be a philanthropist. We're trying to do things like provide education. We've got some incredible speakers, obsession leaders and panelists come in and a variety of topics on the day.
So an individual who is interested, whether that's philanthropists, professional community member, they can come and be part of the day. Those are education sessions that we're offering. And then the end of the third part, summit is a celebration of generosity. We want, [00:03:00] everyone's been going on in. Making great strides and together making huge collective impact.
Jeff Holden: The demand on last year alone is demonstrative of that, and the fact that you're able to bring it back with such incredible interest already. I know the tickets have been selling very, very well. As an attendee last year, I'll tell you, it was incredible from my perspective with a great lineup of breakout speakers, engaging conversation with peers and, and just the opportunity to talk and discuss the issues of the day, which today's issues are different than they were certainly last year.
Yes, it was excellent, the keynote Jane Way skill and left us all thinking about collaboration and connection and I know that Katie is certainly gonna leave us with plenty to digest as well.
Kelly Siefkin: I think you're gonna be impressed. Katie McCleary is coming with a wide breadth of experience as an engaging speaker, and her title is called because of Dinosaurs Comply.
So can we, and we're really [00:04:00] looking for that excitement, that encouragement, that belief that we can really make a difference locally and move forward. The times that we are all encountering right now are heavy. There is a lot that nonprofits are dealing with, individuals are dealing with. Together. I think we can make a lot of impact, and I think you're gonna see through some of these education sessions you'll leave with tips and tricks and new perspectives, maybe even some connections
Jeff Holden: for those listening.
The luncheon, yes, it's sold out, but the philanthropy summit is not, and I believe there's still time to get preferred early pricing on these tickets, correct?
Kelly Siefkin: Absolutely. Early bird pricing is through July 31st. Education session, those are $40. And if you wanna add on the celebration of generosity, that's just another 20.
So if you wanna be part of learning, if you wanna be part of networking, and you wanna be part of a great party, [00:05:00] I encourage you to sign up with the early bird, which closes on July 31st.
Jeff Holden: And Kelly, what's the best way to get tickets? Where should we go? To register,
Kelly Siefkin: you wanna visit Sacre cf. Slash Summit
Jeff Holden: and I and from
Kelly Siefkin: the Sacramento Region Community Foundation's website.
We'll make sure that you get there.
Jeff Holden: Good. And I will put that in the show notes as well as a link. Thank
Kelly Siefkin: you.
Jeff Holden: So, so key for anyone interested in attending the Philanthropy Summit on September 15th is to get your tickets early. Remember, it did sell out last year, and we don't want anybody to miss the opportunity because so many people were disappointed they didn't get to attend.
So don't wait. If you wanna see what it looked like last year, I'm also going to have a short link in the show notes as well. And if that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will. So now, more than ever, it really is time to congregate, communicate, and collaborate, and this is the opportunity to do that.
Kelly, [00:06:00] thank you so much for the great information, and I look forward to seeing you and everyone else at the Philanthropy Summit September 15th at the Hilton, Sacramento.
Kelly Siefkin: See you then.
